However, not every dice roll contributes directly to your score. There is a unique scoring system in *Thousand*, where only specific combinations or individual dice values count toward your total. Players use five dice per turn, and each roll can yield points either from single dice or through various combinations.

Each turn starts with rolling all five dice at once. After observing the results, players must determine which dice contribute to their score based on the game's rules. These scoring dice are set aside, while the remaining ones can be re-rolled if desired, in an attempt to gather even more points. This process continues until all dice have been used or the player decides to stop.
