The Hang is a musical instrument from the idiophone family, originally developed in Switzerland.

This instrument is formed by joining two deep-drawn, nitrided steel half-shells at the rim, creating a hollow interior and its distinctive 'UFO shape'. The top (called the "Ding") features a central 'note' hammered into the surface, surrounded by seven or eight additional hammered 'tone fields'. The bottom (the "Gu") is a smooth surface with a rolled hole in its center that produces a tuned note when the rim is struck. It is also commonly referred to as a handpan.

The Hang operates using some of the same physical principles as a steelpan, though it is designed to function as a Helmholtz resonator. Its development was the culmination of many years of studying the steelpan and various other instruments.
