AGDQ 2025 Raises Over $2.5 Million For Charity

Awesome Games Done Quick 2025 surpasses fundraising goals, exceeding $2.5 Million for cancer research.

The Prevent Cancer Foundation benefited from the Awesome Games Done Quick (AGDQ) 2025 event, held from January 5th to 13th, which raised over $2.5 million. This surpasses the 2024 total by more than $100,000. The event featured a diverse lineup of speedruns, showcasing titles like Crazy Taxi, Super Metroid, and many others across various gaming genres.

AGDQ, a prominent annual winter event hosted by Games Done Quick (GDQ), is one of two major GDQ events each year, complemented by the Summer Games Done Quick marathon in July. GDQ also organizes smaller events throughout the year, including Frame Fatales and GDQ Express. A noteworthy example is the October 2024 Disaster Relief Done Quick, which raised over $45,000 for Direct Relief in response to Hurricane Helene.

The AGDQ 2025 event, held in Pittsburgh, kicked off with a Pikmin (Switch) speedrun. The event's success significantly contributes to the Prevent Cancer Foundation's mission of early detection, prevention, research, and public awareness programs. The collaboration between GDQ and PCF has generated over $26 million in donations over the years.

A standout moment was a creative Crazy Taxi speedrun by Chuckles825, accompanied by a live band performing covers of the game's music to circumvent copyright restrictions. This innovative run generated over $24,000 in donations.

The event concluded with a thrilling randomized four-player Super Metroid race, showcasing impressive skill and close competition. GDQ's next major event, Summer Games Done Quick 2025, will be held in Minneapolis on July 6th, supporting Doctors Without Borders.
