A recent PlayStation.blog post on April 29 detailed that the State of Play will feature approximately 20 minutes of "developer-guided gameplay," showcasing missions, powerful weapons, thrilling Action Skills, and a mix of new and returning characters.

Launch Date Moved to September 12

In a surprising turn of events following the State of Play announcement, Gearbox Entertainment CEO Randy Pitchford shared a video on Twitter (X) on April 29, revealing that Borderlands 4's launch date has been moved up to September 12. The video was quickly deleted, with Pitchford admitting in a follow-up post that it was shared prematurely and promising to repost the announcement soon.

In the video, Pitchford expressed enthusiasm about the development progress, stating that "everything’s going kinda the best scenario," which has allowed them to advance the game's release date. Initially, during PlayStation's February State of Play, Borderlands 4 was set to launch on September 23. However, the game's official Twitter (X) account confirmed the new, earlier release date of September 12.
