"Dawnwalker RPG Unveiled by CD Projekt RED Veterans"
Rebel Wolves, a studio founded by former CD Projekt RED developers, recently hosted a stream that fully unveiled their debut project, The Blood of Dawnwalker. During the event, they showcased a captivating four-minute cinematic trailer, which also serves as the opening sequence for the game's storyline. This dark fantasy action RPG is set to immerse players in a richly detailed world.
Set in an alternate version of 14th-century Europe, The Blood of Dawnwalker follows the journey of a young man named Coen. After the events shown in the intro, Coen acquires supernatural powers and is tasked with the urgent mission to save his loved ones from the clutches of vampires. The clock is ticking, as he has only 30 days and nights to complete his quest. Time in the game advances only during specific moments, adding a strategic element to gameplay as players must manage it wisely.
Throughout his journey, Coen faces profound moral dilemmas. He must choose between maintaining his humanity or embracing his darker, vampiric nature. This pivotal decision impacts both the gameplay mechanics and the overarching narrative. A central gameplay feature is the concept of Blood Hunger; if Coen neglects to feed on blood for too long, he risks losing control, which could lead to the accidental killing of key characters and unforeseen consequences.
Players will have the liberty to explore meticulously crafted environments, where the time of day plays a significant role in shaping the experience. The developers refer to the game's world as a "narrative sandbox," offering extensive opportunities for player-driven actions and interactions.
The Blood of Dawnwalker has been in development for two years and utilizes the powerful Unreal Engine 5. The game is slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series, although an exact release date has not yet been announced.
