As your initial boss encounter in the game, Yetuga presents a formidable challenge. After mastering the combat mechanics, you'll need to utilize all your skills to emerge victorious. Yetuga is an aggressive adversary, relentlessly attacking when its territory is threatened, especially at the end of the Mount Heinmach level. This boss can unleash both long and short-range attacks, including a leaping slam.
Your strategy will depend on your preferred playstyle, but focusing on dodges and parries is crucial to minimize damage. Yetuga's attack repertoire includes:
- A two-hit combo starting with a left-handed smash downward followed by a right-handed uppercut.
- A four-hit combo with horizontal swipes using either its left or right arm.
- A downward smash with both arms.
- A leaping single-handed smash.
- A jumping grab.
- A charge.
You'll need to learn Yetuga's attack patterns and strike during the brief windows between its assaults. Parrying is effective against all attacks except the jumping grab, allowing you to inflict significant Stamina damage. Exploit Yetuga's aggression by dodging its charge and letting it crash into a wall, which temporarily stuns it and provides a chance to attack. This is also an opportunity to destroy the ice spikes on its back, which can weaken its offensive capabilities.

In the second phase, parrying becomes even more vital as it conserves your Stamina. Continue applying pressure to transition Yetuga into its next stage, signaled by a roar and power-up. Maintain distance when this happens.
Yetuga will then grab a giant rock to smash at you, so time your dodge or parry to evade the attack. It will also employ a frost breath that spawns ice spikes; either retreat or parry when the attack reaches you. Seize opportunities to use Potent Attacks, and when Yetuga shows signs of exhaustion, unleash a Brutal Attack for significant damage, bringing it closer to defeat.
Upon defeating Yetuga, you'll be rewarded with 4,800 Lacrima, several Frozen Mountain gear items, and the Necklace of Resolve.
