The cards we're showcasing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, included within the larger main set. They are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with captivating concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new or mechanically unique cards like those recently revealed or included in the Commander decks, they boast artwork that spans from the very first Final Fantasy game to the present day.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards do not become legal in Magic's Standard format, though they remain legal if the existing card was already part of it. Essentially, they are alternate art versions of those cards. However, you can find them in both the premium Collector Boosters and in one out of every three regular Play Boosters, which are used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.

If you plan on diving deep into this set, whether at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, you're bound to encounter these cards frequently. Five of these six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige, which is an Uncommon and a reskin of the iconic Lightning Bolt, is likely to make a significant impact within the set.

The Warrior of Light's reprint of Jodah, the Unifier, is expected to be highly sought after. Jodah is a powerful and popular Commander, and the art here is Amano's from the original Final Fantasy's Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's iconic artwork for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's strongest partner commanders, which has only been reprinted once before this.

These cards will be available in physical form as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions launching on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. Even if you're a Final Fantasy fan not yet into Magic, there's plenty to be excited about, especially since FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura mentioned that the design of Sephiroth on one card is intentionally different for a mysterious reason.
