The beloved Back to the Future franchise will not see any new additions, according to its screenwriter Bob Gale. Despite recent buzz sparked by the co-creators of the Cobra Kai TV series discussing a potential Back to the Future TV series, Gale has firmly shut down any speculation. In a candid conversation with People, he expressed frustration over the persistent questions about the franchise's future, stating, "I don't know why they keep talking about that! I mean, do they think that if they say it enough times, we're going to actually do it?"

Gale's stance is clear: there will be no Back to the Future 4, no prequel, and no spinoff. He emphasized, "It's just fine the way it is. It's not perfect, but as Bob Zemeckis used to say, 'It's perfect enough.'" This sentiment reflects the creators' belief that the trilogy, which began with the 1985 film featuring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly and Christopher Lloyd as the eccentric Doc Brown, is complete and should remain untouched.

While Gale acknowledges the power of Hollywood to potentially push forward a revival, he noted that executive producer Steven Spielberg would also need to approve any new project. He humorously remarked on the pressures of corporate America but affirmed Spielberg's respect for their decision to leave the franchise as is. Gale recounted, "Steven, just like Steven won't allow another E.T., he totally respects the fact that we don't want any more Back to the Future. He gets it and always stood behind that. And thank you, Steven."

Gale's unwavering position was reiterated earlier this year when he bluntly told fans hoping for a Back to the Future 4, "People always say, 'When are you going to do Back to the Future 4?' And we say, 'F**k you.'" This strong statement underscores the creators' dedication to preserving the integrity of the original trilogy.

The original Back to the Future film, released in 1985, follows high school student Marty McFly as he is accidentally sent back in time by the eccentric scientist Doc Brown. This iconic sci-fi adventure became a cultural phenomenon and spawned two sequels, cementing its place in cinematic history.
