Magic: The Gathering's Biggest Crashers and Climbers - June 23
Great news, everyone: The latest Magic: The Gathering Final Fantasy Universes Beyond set has officially launched, bringing with it a wave of exciting new cards and shifting market dynamics.
With any major release comes fresh synergies, and this set is no exception—previously overlooked cards are now seeing renewed interest, while new additions reshape deck strategies and price trends across the board.

As more Final Fantasy-themed cards flood the market, prices are beginning to stabilize post-launch—a positive sign for collectors and players looking to acquire key chase cards without opening countless packs.
Take Lightning, Army of One—her Borderless variant has dropped significantly from its initial $90 peak to around $50. While future spikes are possible, current trends suggest a more accessible entry point for now.
Stay With Me (Rhystic Study), the stunning full-art rendition featuring Tidus and Yuna, has also cooled off dramatically. Once trading above $230, it’s now settled around $110, making it a much more attainable powerhouse for Commander decks. As one of the most sought-after cards from the Through the Ages collection, it remains a strong contender to watch.
The Borderless version of Cloud, Midgar Mercenary has seen a similar correction, falling from launch-week highs to approximately $50—a drop of nearly $60.
Vivi Ornitier continues to show movement, currently valued between $55–$60, down from previous highs near $100. While still in demand, the price dip offers a better window for acquisition.
Perhaps the most dramatic fall belongs to Sephiroth, Fallen Hero (Extended Art), which plummeted from around $100 at pre-release to just $5.99. This steep decline underscores the importance of waiting out the initial hype before purchasing high-profile releases.

Surprisingly, the Final Fantasy crossover has sparked a surge in value for select Doctor Who Universes Beyond cards due to emerging synergies.
Danny Pink, whose ability to draw cards based on counters makes him a perfect fit for Tidus Commander decks, has climbed from $4 to over $13 in a short span.
Barbara Wright may not seem like an obvious choice, but her Read Ahead ability allows players to manipulate summons from the new set more efficiently. Once priced at just $1, she now trades around $3.80.
Other rising stars include:
- Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus – This Phyrexian Horror doubles counter proliferation, making it a powerful engine in Tidus-centric builds. Its value has nearly doubled, rising from $6 to over $16.
- Flame of Anor – A versatile instant that lets you choose one effect (or two if you control a Wizard like Vivi). Now valued at $3.94, up from $2, with foils exceeding $4.
- Mesmeric Orb – A notorious stax piece that shines when paired with The Water Crystal or the Mothman Fallout deck. It’s recently hit $24, a $7 weekly increase, and shows potential for further growth.

With most Final Fantasy-related products still in high demand, availability remains limited. If you spot any sealed product in stock, securing it sooner rather than later could save you from future disappointment.
