Major Updates Coming to Marvel Rivals

Monthly Hero Releases Begin

Marvel Rivals Now Releasing New Heroes Every Month Starting Season 3

In Dev Vision Vol. 05 released April 4, Creative Director Guangguang and Lead Combat Designer Zhiyong announced transformative changes to Marvel Rivals' update schedule. NetEase will shift from releasing two heroes per season to launching one new hero monthly beginning Season 3.

Season durations will be reduced from three months to two months to accommodate this accelerated release cadence. "Through intensive evaluation," Guangguang explained, "we determined monthly hero releases starting Season 3 will maintain the game's freshness while delivering consistent content."

The studio acknowledges community feedback influenced this decision. "Player discussions highlighted expectations for continuous excitement," Guangguang noted. Potential new gameplay modes are also being explored, though implementation timelines remain unconfirmed. This update schedule could triple annual hero releases from four to twelve.

Balancing remains a key concern with increased character additions. Guangguang previously outlined their data-driven approach in March PC Gamer interview: "We meticulously analyze pick rates, win percentages, and ability metrics - these fundamentals guide our balancing philosophy."

Hellfire Gala Season & Villain Reveals

Season 2's Hellfire Gala event transports heroes to Krakoa under telepathic heiress Emma Frost's invitation. As an incoming Vanguard-class character, Frost wields diamond transformation and psychic abilities.

The season trailer showcased elegant formalwear skins for Luna Snow, Magneto, Cloak and Dagger, and Black Panther. This thematic event draws inspiration from Marvel's elite Hellfire Club, whose wealthy members secretly manipulate global affairs.

Mid-season update 2.5 will introduce Ultron as another major antagonist. The trailer teased Ultron's forces disrupting the gala, foreshadowing his destructive agenda. While specifics remain undisclosed, this classic Avengers villain promises significant gameplay implications.

Exclusive Thor & Hawkeye Skins Released

April 4 brought two premium cosmetic bundles marking iconic comic moments. Thor's Lord of Asgard set references his Odin-forged resurrection arc while Hawkeye's Ronin attire captures his martial arts vigilante era.

The Rune King Bundle includes an exclusive costume, spray art, nameplate, MVP animation, and the Well of Mimir emote. Similarly, the Ronin Pack delivers Hawkeye's signature ensemble with complementary sprays, namecards, Deadly Rain MVP sequence, and Hone to Perfection emote.

These substantial updates demonstrate NetEase's decade-long commitment to Marvel Rivals, currently available PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC platforms.
