MCU's 'Captain America: Brave New World' Boasts Compact Runtime

Author : Ellie Update : Feb 19,2025

Captain America: Brave New World, clocking in at a concise 1 hour and 58 minutes, is not only the shortest Captain America film in the MCU, but also ranks among the shortest MCU films overall. This runtime, revealed by AMC Theatres, places it amongst the select few MCU entries under two hours, securing its position as the seventh shortest of the 35 films released. This contrasts sharply with the previous three Captain America films, all exceeding the two-hour mark.

While most of the shorter MCU films hail from Phases 1 and 2, several exceptions have emerged more recently. The shortest MCU film is 2022's The Marvels at 1 hour and 45 minutes, followed by The Incredible Hulk, Thor: The Dark World, Thor, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man. Brave New World shares its runtime with Ant-Man and The Wasp. In contrast, Avengers: Endgame holds the title of longest MCU film at 3 hours and 1 minute, followed by Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Eternals, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Despite its imminent February 14th release, Brave New World reportedly underwent extensive rewrites and reshoots, including scenes featuring WWE star Seth Rollins. The impact of these revisions on the final runtime remains unclear.

This film marks the first Captain America adventure since Chris Evans' Steve Rogers retired, starring Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson. Mackie has described it as a grounded espionage thriller, upholding the legacy of the Captain America series.

The film promises to incorporate lesser-known characters from Marvel lore, including a payoff to a tease from The Incredible Hulk, through the introduction of The Leader. Red Hulk will also feature prominently.
