Metro 2033 Redux Is Free Until April 16

In celebration of Metro's 15th anniversary, 4A Games is giving away Metro 2033 Redux for free. This limited-time offer is available until April 16 at 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT on both Steam and Xbox. The announcement was made by 4A Games on Metro's official Twitter (X) account on April 14, providing an excellent opportunity for new players to dive into the series' origins.

4A Games also shared their plans for the anniversary in a blog post on their official website on March 16. They promised a year filled with events, deals, and special content across Metro's social media channels to celebrate with their dedicated player base.

Founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanding to Malta, 4A Games draws inspiration from Dmitry Glukhovsky's science fiction novels, starting with Metro 2033. Despite the challenging circumstances in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to exploring themes related to the war in their games. They stated, "These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title; it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro

Currently, 4A Games is working on two triple-A projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a new intellectual property (IP). While details about the new IP remain under wraps, the developers have shared insights into the next Metro game.

The ongoing conflict in Ukraine has deeply influenced the development and storytelling of the next Metro title. In their blog post, 4A Games explained, "As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story, those themes already present in Metro becoming ever-more apparent and important."

Despite the challenges, 4A Games remains dedicated to delivering impactful, reality-inspired narratives. They assure fans that they will overcome these obstacles and deliver a compelling new chapter in the Metro saga that resonates with current events.
