Avex Pictures has unveiled a thrilling new addition to the beloved Made in Abyss universe with the announcement of their latest mobile game, titled Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey. Following the deep dives into the mysterious Abyss through manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG, this marks the franchise's first venture into the mobile gaming world.

The game was introduced with the launch of its official X account, promising future updates as the release date approaches. Details about the game's mechanics and features are scarce at this point, but it's confirmed to be a casual mobile title. Initially, it will be available on Android and iOS platforms, exclusively for players in Japan. There's no information yet regarding a potential global release.

Dived into the Abyss Yet?

The journey into the Abyss began in 2012 with Akihito Tsukushi's manga, serialized on Web Comic Gamma. The story centers around Riko, an orphan from the town of Orth, which sits at the edge of the enormous vertical chasm known as the Abyss. This mysterious hole is teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and a chilling mystery that has claimed many lives. Riko's ambition is to emulate her mother, Lyza, a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished into the depths of the Abyss.

Riko's adventure begins when she encounters Reg, a half-robot boy with amnesia. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the Abyss, fully aware that they might never make it back.

The manga's popularity led to its adaptation into an anime series in 2017, followed by the sequel film, Dawn of the Deep Soul, released in Japan in 2020. In 2022, Chime Corporation expanded the universe further with the console and PC RPG, Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness.
