Netflix Stories Canceled, Still Playable!

Netflix has decided to close the chapter on its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories banner, marking the end of a brief foray into narrative gaming. This move might come as a surprise to many, especially considering the games enjoyed a robust player base. So, why did Netflix pull the plug on Netflix Stories? Let's dive into the details!

The announcement, first reported by Variety, aligns with a strategic pivot at Netflix Games. The company is now channeling its efforts towards developing mobile titles that span party games, kids' games, mainstream releases, and more interactive experiences designed for TV play.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the creative force behind the Netflix Stories series, isn't going away, though. They'll continue to contribute to other projects, including the much-anticipated Squid Game: Unleashed.

Netflix Stories Gets Cancelled: What's Happening?

Despite facing some criticism, Netflix Stories consistently secured a spot among the top-played games on the Netflix platform. According to recent reports, it currently ranks fourth in the Netflix Games top 10 carousel, a list that prioritizes playtime over download numbers.

Looking ahead, the final interactive title under the Netflix Stories banner will be Love Is Blind: NYC. Once this title is fully rolled out, the curtain will fall on new developments for Netflix Stories. Interestingly, this news broke just as the Netflix Stories app began teasing its upcoming game, The Love Contract, slated for an April 8th release. Unlike previous games, The Love Contract was not tied to any existing Netflix IP but was an original romance narrative centered around an actress navigating fame, scandal, and faux romance with a Hollywood star and a billionaire. Unfortunately, this game has been scrapped.

While no new games will be added to the Netflix Stories lineup, existing titles such as Love Is Blind, Emily in Paris, Money Heist, Love Is Blind: Winter’s Kiss, Perfect Match, Sex Education, Selling Sunset, Sweet Magnolias, Virgin River, and The Perfect Couple will continue to be available for players to enjoy. However, planned sequels for popular series like Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia have also been cancelled.

That's the latest on Netflix Stories! If you're a fan of Netflix shows and haven't yet tried these games, you can still find them on the Google Play Store.
