"Nintendo Switch 2: Joy-Con Mouse Controls for Home Menu Navigation"
Nintendo has exciting news for fans eagerly awaiting the Switch 2: the new Joy-Con controllers will feature mouse controls that can be used on the Home screen. Since the reveal of the Nintendo Switch 2, enthusiasts have been buzzing about the potential uses of the updated Joy-Con's mouse controls. Last month, we received official confirmation that these Joy-Con can operate in a "mouse mode," allowing players to slide the controllers across surfaces and use the analog sticks to simulate left-click and right-click actions, much like a traditional mouse. Moreover, two Joy-Con can be utilized simultaneously in mouse mode, with one in each hand, or one can be used in standard mode while the other is in mouse mode.
Now, Nintendo has provided even more details. As showcased on the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2.

Nintendo explained, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen. To display the cursor, set the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it as shown."
They further elaborated, "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus. You can use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To switch back to using the thumbstick, simply reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.
While the full extent of game compatibility with these mouse controls remains to be seen, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 editions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
The highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 is set to debut on June 5. Pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 went live on April 24, with the price set at $449.99, and they sold out quickly. For more information, check out IGN's Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order guide.
