Early Nintendo Switch 2 Video Leaked and Removed
It appears that some individuals have managed to obtain a Nintendo Switch 2 console ahead of its official release, despite Nintendo's efforts to prevent early leaks. However, these consoles are reportedly unusable without a mandatory day-one patch, and any leaked content is swiftly removed due to copyright claims.
An eight-second YouTube video, originally posted by user Ali Almarzooqi and viewed by IGN, showcased what appeared to be an authentic unboxing of a Nintendo Switch 2 console. The video was quickly taken down following a copyright strike from the anti-piracy firm Web Capio, suggesting the leak might be genuine. The individual who posted the video mentioned that the console requires an update to function, stating:
"Nintendo locked the switch 2 it needs update to function so I am waiting for June 5th to unlock it" - Ali Almarzooqi
Additionally, popular deals poster Wario64 reported that another person contacted them with photos of a Nintendo Switch 2, but encountered a message prompting them to update the system when attempting to play a Switch 1 game.
While these early leaks could be elaborate fakes, their authenticity might be confirmed if either owner provides a full unboxing or displays the system message requiring an update. Until then, the gaming community is left to rely on official information from Nintendo to learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2.
Nintendo has already provided glimpses into the console's capabilities, including gameplay of Mario Kart World and details about performance upgrades for Switch 1 games, variable refresh rate support, and the GameChat feature, which requires a phone number for verification. Despite the rapid sell-out of pre-orders last month, Nintendo of America president Doug Bowser has assured that there will be sufficient stock to meet demand during the holiday season.
As we await the official launch on June 5, any further leaks or official announcements will be eagerly anticipated by fans eager to experience the next generation of Nintendo's popular gaming console.
