Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Super Thin and Now Available

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, its latest flagship smartphone, at the May Unpacked event. While closely related to the earlier 2025 release of the Galaxy S25, the S25 Edge boasts a notably slimmer profile, aptly named for its edge in design.

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge shares many specifications with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, including the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and a 200MP camera. The standout feature is its chassis, now reduced to a sleek 5.8mm thickness from the 8.2mm of the Galaxy S25 Ultra. This reduction in thickness also makes the phone lighter, weighing just 163g.

Despite its larger size, the S25 Edge maintains the same 6.7-inch AMOLED 2X display as the standard Galaxy S25, matching closely with the 6.9-inch display of the S25 Ultra.

Given its thin and expansive design, durability is a primary concern. Samsung addresses this with an upgrade to Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, touted as more durable than the Gorilla Glass Armor 2 used in the S25 Ultra. The real test will be its resilience against everyday wear, like being sat on in a pocket, rather than just drop resistance. The big question remains: will it avoid becoming another "bendgate"?

The Galaxy S25 Edge continues to leverage the "Mobile AI" suite introduced with the Samsung Galaxy S24 and refined throughout 2025. The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset enables substantial local AI processing, enhancing user privacy. However, many AI applications still rely on cloud services. Samsung's innovative features, such as summarizing notifications and news articles, add convenience for users interested in these functionalities.

Preorders for the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge are now open, starting at $1,099 for the 256GB model and $1,219 for the 512GB model. The device is available in three elegant color options: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Icyblue.
