"The Last of Us Season 2 Release Date Announced"
The much-anticipated second season of The Last of Us is set to premiere on HBO on Sunday, April 13 at 9pm ET/PT, with streaming available on Max. This season will consist of seven episodes, and to build excitement, HBO has released new character posters featuring Joel, Ellie, and Abby.
Set five years after the gripping events of the first season, The Last of Us Season 2 will follow Joel and Ellie as they continue their journey, now living with Joel's brother Tommy in their Montana commune. The narrative will delve into the storyline of the second game in the series, The Last of Us Part 2, providing fans with a familiar yet thrilling continuation of the saga.
Joining the returning stars Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie are fresh faces that will enrich the storyline. Kaitlyn Dever will take on the role of Abby, with Isabela Merced playing Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, and Tati Gabrielle as Nora. Notably, Tati Gabrielle will also star as the main protagonist in Naughty Dog’s upcoming game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

The first season of The Last of Us was a resounding success for HBO, earning widespread acclaim and numerous awards. Created by Craig Mazin of Chernobyl fame and Neil Druckmann, head of Naughty Dog, the series secured several Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards and was nominated for five Primetime Emmys, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor, Lead Actress, Outstanding Director, and Outstanding Writing.
The overwhelming success of the first season has HBO eagerly anticipating more from The Last of Us. Francesca Orsi from HBO has hinted at the possibility of the series running for a total of four seasons, indicating that this new season will not fully adapt the game's narrative.
