"Star Wars Outlaws Launch Date Set for Nintendo Switch 2"
Ubisoft has confirmed that Star Wars: Outlaws will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2025, a few months after the console’s release on June 5. While the game was previously confirmed for the platform, it will not be available at launch.
Set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Star Wars: Outlaws follows Kay Vess, a rogue on the run with a bounty on her head from a powerful crime syndicate. Originally released on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, the game received a 7/10 from our reviewer, who praised its engaging exploration and intergalactic heist narrative but noted underwhelming stealth mechanics, repetitive combat, and technical issues at launch.
Beyond the Switch 2 release date, Ubisoft shared limited details but reaffirmed the game’s arrival on the next-gen handheld, allowing fans to add it to the growing Switch 2 Games List. The announcement comes as American and Canadian gamers remain in pre-order uncertainty due to Nintendo evaluating the impact of new tariffs from the Republican administration—making news about upcoming titles a timely distraction.
The reveal took place during a panel at Star Wars Celebration in Japan, where Ubisoft also unveiled the second story expansion for the game: Star Wars: Outlaws – A Pirate’s Fortune. In this DLC, Kay Vess teams up with the fan-favorite Hondo Ohnaka to take down Stinger Tash, the ruthless leader of the Rokana Raiders. A Pirate’s Fortune launches on May 15, 2025.
