Stellar Blade PC Version: Developers Respond to DRM and Region Lock Concerns

Stellar Blade's developer has addressed player concerns regarding the game's DRM protection and regional availability ahead of its PC release. Here's what players need to know about these potential restrictions.

Stellar Blade PC Version Updates

SHIFT UP Clarifies DRM Implementation

The developer SHIFT UP has responded to community worries about the inclusion of Denuvo anti-tamper technology in the PC version. In an official statement on May 17, they explained: "Our DRM implementation has been carefully optimized to maintain consistent performance metrics, sometimes even improving minimum frame rates in specific scenarios."

Denuvo serves as anti-piracy software that protects games from unauthorized distribution. While controversial among players for its perceived performance impact, SHIFT UP presented comparative test data showing nearly identical performance between DRM-enabled and DRM-free versions across various framerate measurements.

Importantly, the developer confirmed the game will support full modding capabilities without DRM-related restrictions - a common concern with DRM-protected titles. While players appreciated the transparency, many still hoped for a DRM-free release option.

Addressing Regional Availability Concerns

Another major concern involves regional restrictions. Despite not requiring PlayStation Network (PSN) connectivity, the game will be unavailable in over 130 countries where PSN services aren't supported due to publisher policies.

SHIFT UP stated they are actively collaborating with their publisher to "resolve the majority of these region lock issues quickly." They emphasized that both PC and PlayStation 5 versions will receive identical content updates to ensure fair treatment for all players.

The PC version launches June 11 on Steam. Players seeking more information can check the latest updates through official channels.
