"Stellar Blade Sequel Confirmed by Developer"
Stellar Blade is set to receive a full sequel, as confirmed by developer Shift Up. The PlayStation-published action game, which launched in April 2024, received positive feedback from players who appreciated its blend of gameplay elements from NieR: Automata and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Shift Up, a Korean company, announced the upcoming sequel via a chart included in their latest financial results, showcasing their future plans. The chart indicates that the Stellar Blade sequel is part of their strategy to expand their franchises before 2027.
Prior to the sequel's release, Stellar Blade is slated for a "platform expansion," which is believed to be its upcoming PC version, scheduled for release on June 11, 2025. During this development period, Shift Up will also launch Project Witches, a new multiplatform action RPG that has yet to be fully unveiled.

Earlier this week, Shift Up addressed a PC region lock issue with Sony, which had blocked the game's store page on Steam in over 100 countries, stating they are "closely discussing" the matter.
In our review, IGN described Stellar Blade as "a gorgeous and well-crafted action game with very impressive strengths and very clear weaknesses." While the game's story and characters were criticized for lacking substance, and its RPG elements, particularly the sidequests, were noted as poorly implemented, the action was praised. The Sekiro-inspired combat system, along with a variety of challenging enemies and hidden rewards, was highlighted for making exploration rewarding and engaging.
