WB Reportedly Cancels Unannounced Hogwarts Legacy Paid DLC

Author : Logan Update : May 20,2025

An unannounced paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy has been canceled, according to a Bloomberg report.

Per Bloomberg's sources, Warner Bros. was planning a paid story expansion to its Harry Potter adventure game, Hogwarts Legacy, that would have released this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game.

PlayHowever, Warner Bros. canceled the DLC this week, reportedly due to concerns that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered," according to Bloomberg. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the report.

Amid ongoing financial challenges, Warner Bros. has been actively restructuring its gaming division. Earlier this year, it canceled its planned Wonder Woman game and shut down the studio behind it, Monolith Productions, along with WB San Diego and the MultiVersus studio, Player First Games. Additionally, Warner Bros. laid off employees at Rocksteady just last September.

Despite this cancellation, Warner Bros. has consistently emphasized that Hogwarts Legacy and the Harry Potter franchise are among its most valuable assets. The company has stated that a sequel to the game is "one of the biggest priorities" as it focuses on fewer but larger franchises. The original game has sold over 30 million copies, underscoring its significant market success.
