La aclamada película de ciencia ficción de James Cameron, The Abyss, ha sido retirada de Disney+ UK por contener una escena prohibida controversial.

La película original de 1989 incluye una secuencia en la que unos técnicos sumergen a una rata viva en líquido fluorocarbonado durante la producción. Tras esta revelación, Disney ha retirado temporalmente The Abyss de su catálogo de streaming en el Reino Unido. Bowles aclaró: "No se trata de censura; acogeríamos con agrado que Disney+ restaurara la película después de eliminar esta única escena problemática, en consonancia con sus lanzamientos en cines y medios domésticos del Reino Unido."

"Nuestra preocupación se centra en actualizar las regulaciones de contenido para gobernar adecuadamente las plataformas de streaming, asegurando que los espectadores no estén expuestos a representaciones de crueldad animal históricamente prohibidas", concluyó Bowles.
