Games Workshop Boosts Staff with $27M Bonus Amid Success

Author : Layla Update : May 26,2025

The success story at Games Workshop, the creators of Warhammer 40,000, continues to unfold as the company announces a generous £20 million (approximately $27 million) bonus to be distributed among its staff. This announcement comes on the heels of a stellar financial performance for the 52 weeks ending June 1, 2025, where the Nottingham, UK-based company reported a core revenue of £560 million, up from £494.7 million in the previous period. Licensing revenue also saw a significant increase, rising to £50 million from £31 million. Core profit reached £210 million, up from £174.8 million, and licensing profit soared to £45 million from £27 million, culminating in a profit before tax of £255 million, up from £203 million.

In appreciation of their employees' contributions to these remarkable results, Games Workshop is distributing the £20 million bonus, an increase from the £18 million bonus given out the previous year. This bonus will be shared equally among all staff members. With an estimated workforce of around 1,500, each employee can expect to receive approximately £13,333 (about $18,000).

Games Workshop's primary revenue stream comes from the sale of miniatures that fans assemble and paint for use in tabletop wargames like Warhammer 40,000. However, the company is increasingly expanding its footprint in the intellectual property (IP) market, generating substantial revenue from successful video games such as last year's Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, and animations, including Amazon's Warhammer 40,000 Secret Level episode. In a significant move last year, Games Workshop and Amazon finalized a deal for Henry Cavill's Warhammer 40,000 Cinematic Universe, which will see the development of films and television series. Additionally, Space Marine 3 is currently in development.

Looking ahead, Games Workshop acknowledges that while licensing revenue has hit a record high in the current period, it does not anticipate this level to be repeated in the 2025/26 fiscal year, though licensing remains a key focus. The Warhammer franchise, including Warhammer 40,000, continues to grow and show no signs of slowing down.

Recently, Games Workshop held its annual Warhammer Skulls showcase, which featured numerous exciting announcements and trailers. Key highlights included the release of a Definitive Edition of Dawn of War and the introduction of Siege mode for Space Marine 2. You can find all the details and trailers from the event right here.
