Switch 2 Screen Damage Linked to Stapled Receipts

A concerning trend has emerged among Nintendo Switch 2 owners, as multiple reports show consoles arriving with punctured screens - surprisingly caused by retail receipts being stapled through the packaging. Customer photos reveal how staples easily penetrate the console's thin cardboard box and the flimsy protective plastic sleeve.
Widespread Incident at GameStop Midnight Launch
"GameStop stapled receipts for both my and my friends' Switch 2 purchases right through the box," one frustrated fan shared after visiting a midnight launch. "This is absolutely ridiculous - now I'll probably need to wait months for restock." Many affected customers appear to be from the same Staten Island GameStop location that handled a massive midnight launch event with over 100 attendees.
"Midnight release turned into a disaster for me," another customer posted on Reddit, showing staple marks piercing their screen. "Seems like everyone who bought from that store has the same damage." Social media is flooded with similar complaints, all pointing to the same store location at 1756 Forest Ave, Staten Island.
The viral tweets documenting the issue show receipts stapled directly through the front of Switch 2 boxes, with multiple staples often penetrating deep enough to scratch or puncture screens. Both Nintendo and GameStop have yet to respond to these complaints publicly.
Packaging Design Under Scrutiny
While anger is directed at GameStop employees, many are questioning Nintendo's packaging design that leaves the console screen vulnerable. The Switch 2 ships with its sensitive display facing upward at the top of the box, protected only by thin cardboard.
"This was bound to happen," commented one observer. "Having the screen positioned at the most exposed part with minimal protection was a terrible design choice by Nintendo. We're going to see many more damaged units reported soon."
Some fans have already begun returning their damaged consoles to GameStop stores, though with the high demand for Switch 2 units, replacements may prove difficult to obtain quickly.

IGN has reached out to both Nintendo and GameStop for official comments on the situation and to inquire about potential solutions for affected customers. Retail industry experts suggest this incident highlights the need for better communication between manufacturers and retailers regarding handling procedures for fragile electronics.
