Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster Development Exceeded Expectations
Staying True to the Original Vision

The Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster required five years of meticulous work to ensure it honored the original games. In a March 4, 2025, interview with Dengeki Online, the developers of Suikoden I & II HD Remaster shared insights into the process of delivering a high-quality remaster.
Initially announced in 2022 with a planned 2023 release, the project faced delays and is now set for launch this year. Suikoden Gensho series IP and Game Director Takahiro Sakiyama explained that late-stage debugging revealed areas needing refinement, prompting the team to postpone the release to maintain quality.
Game Director Tatsuya Ogushi noted, "We took a measured approach, assessing the situation carefully. After discussions with Sakiyama, we identified several aspects that required thorough attention to meet our quality standards."
Revitalizing the Suikoden Legacy

The remaster marks the first step in reviving the Suikoden franchise, with ambitions beyond a single project. Producer Rui Naito emphasized the importance of laying a strong foundation for the series’ future.
Naito told the team, "This remaster is the starting point for reviving the Suikoden IP, so we must deliver something exceptional. A subpar release could halt our momentum." He stressed the need for a polished product to ensure the franchise’s resurgence.
