Mastering the Voodoo Doll in Phasmophobia: A Guide to Utilizing Cursed Possessions
Phasmophobia's most dangerous ghosts often require equally risky tools for identification, such as Cursed Possessions. The Voodoo Doll is a prime example, offering a potentially high-reward, high-risk gameplay mechanic. This guide details its acquisition and effective use.
How to Use the Voodoo Doll
The Voodoo Doll's primary function is to provoke ghost activity, making it easier to gather evidence. By inserting pins one at a time, you can trigger actions like EMF5 readings or UV fingerprint reveals, particularly useful with elusive or inactive ghosts.
Ten pins are available. However, each pin insertion carries a sanity cost of 5%, totaling 50% sanity loss if all pins are used. This significantly increases the risk of ghost hunts.
The most significant risk is the heart pin. Pin insertion is random; hitting the heart pin instantly triggers a Cursed Hunt, reducing sanity by 10% and initiating a prolonged (20 seconds longer) ghost hunt near your location.
Despite the inherent risks, the Voodoo Doll's potential for evidence gathering makes it a worthwhile tool for well-prepared teams.
Understanding Cursed Possessions in Phasmophobia
Cursed Possessions (or Cursed Objects) are unique items found randomly across Phasmophobia maps, with spawn rates potentially influenced by difficulty and Challenge Mode.
Unlike standard equipment, which minimizes risk while providing evidence, Cursed Objects offer shortcuts to manipulate ghost behavior but at a much higher risk to your character's sanity. The risk-reward ratio varies between objects. There's no penalty for choosing not to use them, and only one spawns per contract (unless modified in Custom settings).
Seven Cursed Objects exist:
- Haunted Mirror
- Voodoo Doll
- Music Box
- Tarot Cards
- Ouija Board
- Monkey Paw
- Summoning Circle
